Penumbra Snippets by Nagendra Singh

About the Book

Hamstrung by Parkinson’s Disorder family tragedies, I am perched facing my lap top, on my late father’s swivel chair, pressing the key buttons about ‘my Life’s Penumbra Moments’, ‘Heredity’ and areas of my ‘Influence’ and ‘Concern’. Observes Madhu Tandan, prolific best- seller writer in her Preview of the book, “The author has ‘Lived A Live of Love, Faith & Humour”. Encouraged wife Jaya, “You have spent 40 years in a professional career and child-hood in the atrociously feudalistic Bihar & the pell-mell of Uttar-Pradesh; educated in the royal but somewhat, anachronistic, Rajasthan, and ‘nobody’s’ Delhi. Qualified expert Mr. Barun Banerjee, a close friend, showed the light. “Nagendra, each and every one’s story of life is unique and different, hence interesting and engaging fare”. The professional journey through the Steel, Sugar, Spinning and Polyester, Sponge iron & Power, assorted industries, etc., was quite a journey. The Tatas, Willard, Monnet, Lohias, Bajaj & Adventz – was an impressive litany. I was elevated as Director to four Board positions. In today’s parlance, I have read that there are more 10,000 business houses are ‘under the hammer’ as confirmed ‘Non Performing Assets’ by their bankers but their promoters are enjoying a better ‘life-style’ that ‘pre say’ a Ratan N. Tata! Our ‘Family Vision’ was documented in this milieu.

About the Author

Nagendra Singh has had the penchant for reading and writing since his school days. He couldn’t pursue this passion intensely because of his total involvement in 40 years of professional career with the likes of Tata, Birla, Bajaj, Lohia, Willard and Monnet in senior positions at even Board level right across Steel, Sugar, Polyester & Spinning Industries, as Trainer, Landmark Education Graduate, etc. Asked as to why he hadn’t written 7 to 8 books by now, he candidly puts as only he can: “My childhood was largely spent at boarding schools and work life of 40 years plus, in grappling with the affairs of business houses where I was gainfully employed all these years albeit, on the employer’s agenda. If Parkinson’s Disorder hadn’t got the better of me, I would’ve found it difficult to hang up my boots! ‘Single-minded involvement’ in my professional career gave me practically very little time for pursuing my passions”. Singh went to the elite Mayo College at Ajmer for his Senior Cambridge and acquired his bachelors’ in History (Hons.) from Hindu College DU followed by a PGDBA in Management. A staunch believer in nurturing ‘human-relationships’ alongside bonding with nature, is his ‘true passion’. At present he resides in his country house at NCR Hapur with wife Jaya Placement Consultant & Counsellor and son Aikaj a Media person along with near ‘n’ dear kith & kin.
