Dear Iris by Manasvini Duggal

About the book

Dear Iris” is a selected collection of the author’s experiences from their first year of adulthood. An anthology inspired by home, personal philosophies, a new city, and love, these poems tell a story of the quintessential teenage experience. Under the umbrella theme of a young adult’s first coming-
of-age experiences, the author uses subtle emotions and vivid imagery to present their thoughts. Deeply steeped in romanticism, each poem in “Dear Iris” summarises the author’s growth over twelve months, and the inevitable full circle that life brings about. The poignance of a sunset; the friction of moving on; the thrill of being alone in a strange city; the necessity to be open to love, pain, and guidance; “Dear Iris” is a raw exhibition of a teenager’s mistakes, exploration, and ultimate transcendence.

Ti Voglio Bene by Dr Magda Medini

 About the book

“You’ll never be loved the way you are now, you never have been, you never will be.” That’s how Alex Kelly made Zohra Jaan feel, making her dance in the aisle with lascivious romance. But in the greatest essence, Zohra essentially felt like a woman with Alex. Perhaps, there is some truth in his commitment to marry Zohra with oodles of sugar lest it should sound a liable joke on her trust, integrity, and, moreover, her faith. In fact, you would feel exceptionally bemused hearing about this Italian-British handsome hunk Captain Alex Kelly genuinely loving an ordinary orthodox Indian Muslim damsel, Zohra Jaan.

SELECTED SHORT STORIES OF CHANDRASEKHAR RATH by Durga Prasad Mishra

 About the book

The reader is amazed at the intensity with which the characters are built up in the stories. The universality and the uniqueness, both simultaneously, keep the readers on their toes till the end through the description of characters and events. Often the reader is left bewildered and unable to come out of the magic of the language and events long after completing the story. It compels him to browse through the story one more time to comprehend the nuances and to enjoy pure literature. Not only human beings, but also other living beings like an insignificant drumstick plant (in ‘Unworthy’) and that unnamed huge old tree (in ‘The Story of A legendary Tree’) feel eager to touch the soft malleable corn or of the heart of the readers. A popularly held belief that a child born on a new moon day, especially if it is a girl child and comes out of the womb of the mother in an inauspicious moment of total lunar eclipse is bound to be stigmatized, has been completely obliterated in the story ‘Goddess’. The principal character of the story in ‘Love Rekindled’ could realize after reaching the age of his youth as to why the aromatic Earth plays with varieties of fragrances by sucking pollen from different kinds of exotic flowers. On the day of the coronation ceremony of the would-be king, Baraja vanished with the Royal Horse leaving everybody awe-struck. Even decades after, when the reigns of the administration has changed hands from Kings to representatives of the citizens, entire population continue to believe that Baraja would come to save them, in the story ‘The Saviour Shall Come’. ‘Keda’ leads an arduous life being ignorant of the pleasures of a cycle-rickshaw ride down the slope of the hill and still wonders how people enjoy it when he himself got the opportunity of such a ride. The sarcasm that all the fathers are stupid individuals played heavy when the young man became a father himself in the story ‘Offspring’.

Being more of a film worm thinks that only "Full-Time Writer" will be made. Then comes to mind - "Dad won't agree". Well, "Thinking did not leave my hand" and "Pen did not leave my hand". WEAR ME BEAUTIFUL by Dr. Meena Jhala

About the book

The aim of the study was to enlighten the knowledge of color and its application
in selection of clothes. Any color in a dress looks nice if it is appropriate to the wearer’s
skin tone and it looks becoming. The colors should be right for day wear and evening
wear. This particular book will be presenting findings of both Day and Evening Wear.
Color is one of the most important elements in Fashion. Fashion is color; color is
fashion, giving feeling and emotion to every changing trend and is an essential part of our
everyday life. Color is perhaps the first element that we register when we view something
for the first time. Color is usually first to attract us to clothing. Color selection in clothes
is very personal and each of us has a color or colors in which we think we look best.
It was observed by the researcher through the pilot study that the age group
between 20 to 30 years in women is very crucial, they have their own wardrobe demands,
their choices in color selection are random and based on trends and mostly on others
opinion. They need color guidance for day wear and evening wear. However, this
reference is applicable to women above 30 years of age as well. Hence, under the study,
‘A STUDY OF COLOR SELECTION FOR CLOTHING AS PER SKIN-
TONE’(Reference of Skin-Tones taken from Donna Fujji’s Skin Tone palette of 10 Warm
and 10 Cool skin colors).I have tried to give proper color palette for each of the seven
identified skin tone from the sample size of 500 women with a vocabulary of 101 colors
(Reference taken from Jean Allen’s 29 basic and 101 Color Vocabulary) which were
matched with Pantone Shade Cards and same were dyed in cotton and silk fabrics for this
study by the Researcher.
22
One of the main objectives of this research is to address misconceptions that women have
regarding skin tones and suitable colors for clothing for day wear and evening wear and
provide an opportunity of enhancement of self-image.
Since the study is based on skin tones of the women, firstly each of the 500
women’s skin tone was identified with skin tone scale and with the data analysis seven
skin tones were identified on the majority ratio. Here the Hair color and color of eyes
being constant as black brown. The second aspect was the vocabulary of color; it was
matched with Pantone Shade Cards then dyeing them in exact shade in cotton and silk
fabrics.
This book hopes to provide suggestions, information and an opportunity to every
woman in India to enhance self-image, look beautiful and attractive in the colors she
wears

The End by Karanvir Gupta

About the book

There comes a time in the lifetime when we not only start doubting ourselves, but also our past, present and the future. We are left helpless, hopeless and clueless about where we go on from here. 2020 was one such year in the history of mankind. The book The End is a tale of an incorrigible human world that was caught in the trap of unprecedented circumstances and sequence of events. The book is a reflection of many emotions that catapulted during the pandemic. The pandemic arrived, caught us by surprise and questioned the status quo in the world that humans had created for themselves. The book is about a long drawn battle for the survival of the human race. It is a compelling narrative on humans battling the virus and their inner demons at the same time. It is about the dwindling moral compass, the vices, the evolution and further need for evolving as a race. The book The End is an epiphany of quite a few realisations that we would have conveniently ignored or deliberately chose to neglect if not for the pandemic.

This book is your and mine watchdog. It is for you, me and each one of us to share with our future generations. This book will act as a reminder for the entire generation to not commit the same mistakes again. And remember that after each end, there is a new beginning - there is a new normal towards which all of us will have to work together. The book leaves us with hope that tomorrow the sun will shine and the world would be a better place to live.

The Love that Never Happened by Prakash Gupta

 About the book

“The love that never happened” is based on the stories of the author during his engineering days with a touch of fiction. With this book, he is celebrating the young love that made him feel alive. Because as St. Augustine said, “Better to have loved and lost, than to never loved at all”

Prakash and Alisha, 2 completely different individuals meet during their B-Tech days. It is a ride to the time of adulthood when life was young and wild. Life had no rules then as if the rules of life always stayed out of the campus gate. A tale of friendship from B-Tech days, 4 friends and their hostel life, and how love is celebrated in boys’ hostel. It’s not only about love, but it’s also about the friendship of those days. It’s about the transition from a Student to a Corporate employee. It’s about the innocence with which Alisha and Prakash lived their college life. It’s about the first love of campus, it’s about that Old Monk party of Hostel. We get to live college with Prakash and Alisha and see life through them. Their love, which starts with a “Hi”, moves to coffee dates, then to long walks, then to Lovers park. Love was in their hands and they did it perfectly. This book is about the different aspects of love and how life takes a turn the moment you move out of the campus gate. It’s about the reality of life and two innocent souls, who only loved each other. The book takes you back to those college random days, those stupid moments, which were not stupid then. Alisha’s care towards the restless soul like him is a thing to watch. Two different perspectives of life, but the best part is they loved each other. Red Card by Ranju Aery Dadhwal

About the book

This book examines the politicization of victims of terrorism and the reality of the victimization experience of Hindus of Punjab. A very short introduction into the historical, ideological and local  and foreign roots of terrorist violence in Punjab in which Hindus are being embattled till today.  This violent war of politics and power lasted for almost a decade.

Families of Hindus killed or migrated from the state have been shedding tears for the last three decades. Terrorism/ Terrorist does not have a widely agreed definition but is widely accepted as a method of coercion. Victims of terrorism are a unique group of individuals whose experience is overlooked in Punjab on terrorism. Unlike America, where we have seen lobbying activities and political involvement of the victims of terrorism in policy-making and law-enforcement transformations, Punjab has forgotten Hindu terrorist victims for political gains.

Killed to lay the foundation of Khalistan or were terrorized and forced to flee the state. To this day these People are deprived of not only justice but even the red-cards given to the families of the victims of terrorism. Without the card they are deprived of the government concessions available to them.

This book is based on field work in Punjab, Haryana, some parts of Himachal and Delhi. This   focuses on the needs and experiences of victims of terrorism and political violence and does not intend to create a rift between the communities.  This book will be of much interest to students of terrorism and political violence for power, victim’s condition and disparities in justice delivered, if any.

About the author

Ranju Aery  Dadwal,

After nearly three decades of journalism, voluntarily retired from the job of the Dainik  Tribune (The Tribune Trust).

After leaving my job, I devoted my entire attention to this book. During this journey I also visited some areas of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal and met people who migrated from Punjab during terrorism. Got an opportunity to meet Hindu s in rehabilitation Camp in Delhi too.

I was shaken by some of the horrifying stories of these people. I was taken aback when some of them said that I am the first person in three decades, who has given them an ear. The pain of the people was such that it cannot even be described. I met many people but certainly they could not get space in my book, but my promise to all those people and my readers that I will make you hear their plight from them, may be from another platform soon.

I have many breakthroughs in my journalism carrier and one of them is described in Harish Pathak's book 'National Journalism of Zonal Newspapers.'

Many people helped me while writing this book. Vijay Singh Bhardwaj, connected me to some of the terrorist victims of Punjab and from there the chain started expanding and then met several victims at various places.

WHERE WHEN AND HOW ANCESTRAL (LUCA) TO ALL LIFE ORIGINATED

 About the book

The book is all about the living beings. All living beings, including humans have originated and
evolved from the Last Universal Common Ancestor: LUCA that was possible as a result of
spontaneous step-by-step chemical origin in about 3.750 billion years ago from the elements
consisting of life body, such as nitrogen bases (adenine, thyamine, cytosine, guanine, and uracil, which are made up off the elements - C, H, O, N) and ribose sugar.
This life originated in the sediments of the palaeo floodplains at the palaeo mouths of fresh water flows/rivers on the Hadean surface in the Archaean Eon. This was a global phenomenon. The life on the rocky planet like our Earth was possible because of existence of fresh water bodies over minerals, metals, and clay deposits, which rested on Hadean surface and active geological processes and active environments.
The book also makes an attempt to explain as to how do the simple elements, like C, H, O, N, S,
and P first change to simple chemistry – H 2 O, NH 3 followed by CH 4 HCN, and monomers -
monosaccharides, amino acids, glycerol's/fatty acids, nucleotides, and polymers - carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. There was not much development for about 3210 million years (from 3750 million years to 540 million years) and suddenly changed/jumped to complex life forms in about 541 million years ago. Here the life originated and evolved without head and heart from 3750 million years ago to 522 million years ago, i.e., for about 3228 million years. The head was originated and evolved in about 521million years ago.
However, consciousness emerged along with bonding of carbon with hydrogen and other elements which were finally converted into nucleosides having nitrogenous base and ribose sugar. The gravity and gravitational force intertwined with electromagnetic force were the reason there were bonding of carbon and hydrogen and other elements to originate and evolve LUCA, which stayed away from thermodynamic equilibrium.
