The essays chosen in this volume by and large have been written by scholars with a view, to unfolding either the virtues or shortcomings of many of the principles and practices of different religions. Some of the essays have sought to examine the causes and reasons behind the unhealthy views and superstitions and also to reveal a good and elevating virtues the cultivation of which may enlighten us for the realization of the noble ideas and ideals of life. The writers have made an honest attempt to look at the grim reality of some religious superstitions in order to find out the hidden light that rise beyond the boundary of blind beliefs and faiths. Such a quest is always worthwhile for a sincere seeker in quest of truth and light. The authors of the essays have taken pains to diagnose the deep-seated malady of blind belief, fanaticism and dogmatisms.

About the Author

Dr Bosudha Bandyopadhyay is an Associate Professor with Chitkara University. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor of English in National Defence Academy, Pune before joining Chitkara University. She completed her Masters in English from Calcutta University, MPhil in English Literature from Pune University and PhD in English Literature from University of Mumbai . She has been the recipient of the prestigious Gandhian Eco-Philosophy Fellowship at Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation, Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. Vandana Pathak identifies herself primarily as a nomad and a logophile. A language trainer and academician by profession, she is an avid reader and a bigger horder. A doctorate in English Literature, she is a Gold Medalist in M.Phil. Her work experience extends from UNICEF projects to working as a trainer for EFL in NGOs to training university students. She is NET and two state SET qualified and in that capacity, has taught Communication Skills to Under-graduate and graduate students. As a recipient of the Fulbright scholarship, Foreign Language Teaching Assistant, she has taught students at the University of Utah, U.S.A while doing her graduate courses.
