Kashmir Agricultural Heritage by Bansi Lal Puttoo



About the Book- The book in general  encompasses some of the hither-to undocumented ancient agricultural practices followed in Kashmir (J&K) that sustained the inhabitants   since time immemorial.

About the Author-(Dr.)Bansi Lal Puttoo hails from a farming family of Sopore District Baramulla(J&K).He acquired his academic qualifications from College of Agriculture ,Osmania University Hyderabad,Himachal College of Agriculture Research Institute Solan (HP),Punjab University, Chandigarh and Institute of Agricultural Sciences BHU Varanasi(UP) which provided him an opportunity of studying and working in different agro-regions of India and guidance of different professors of repute.Served the state of J&K as farm scientist, extension worker and teacher in different capacitiesfor over forty years that included Professor cum Chief Scientist (PP) SKUAST (K) and Emeritus Scientist (ICAR).Known for his research publications numbering over 150 in peer subject journals of National and International repute on Vegetable crops, Seed Pathology, Temperate and dry fruits, besides many book chapters, pamphlets and leaflets. Exert guest nominee for temperate horticultural topics intended for farming community on Radio Kashmir Srinagar and Door Darshan Kashmir in Butrat and Krishi Darshan programs. Worked as a Special Nominee for "Indo-Australian Aid Program" for Apple in Kashmir, OISCA International(Japan) and coordinator problem solving team of SKUAST (J&K).He taught number of courses to undergraduate and post graduate students for over 20 years and guided scores of Post Graduate students for thesis work as Major adviser.Dr.Puttoo, is life member of many professional Societies and often chaired the technical deliberations, judging committee member during annual conferences, seminars and symposia. In recognition of his contribution to research work he was awarded, FPSI,Dr.K.C.Mehta and Manoranjan Mitra Award (2009) and ‘IPS’ Recognition Award (2019-20)by Indian Phytopathologica
