One and a half year by Abhiyansh Shukla


About the book


 In this book, the author explains the unexpected experience which children had to face during these one and a half years of pandemic. The sudden stop in the regular classroom studies and outdoor games for more than a year for almost 500 days. Missing celebrations, parties, and outdoor gatherings, cultural activities led to the growth of frustration and fear this also had a negative impact on the psychology  & over all development of children, but when the news of development of COVID vaccines started coming, it was a ray of hope for all of us, but later it was made clear that vaccines are still not tested in children, hence they will not be inoculated as for now. In this adventurous book, the author explains Covid from the view of a child and the experiences and struggles faced by children, that included absolute stopage of outdoor activities, compulsion for online studies, difficulties faced by families who have little resources. 


About the author


The Author is class 6th student of La Martiniere College, Lucknow, during the COVID pandemic the writer himself and his family members suffered COVID infection, he underwent treatment under home isolation, and suffered social isolation as Government reinforced barricates besides his residence to prevent him & his family members  going out of the house. Abhiyansh was so moved with the plight of humans that he decided to support the community during these difficult times, he for around 6 months daily volunteered 6 hours daily and helped elderly people  registering on COWIN portal and facilitated their COVID 19 vaccinations by arranging their pick and drop facility through various NGOs. He then decided to pen down his experience by writing 15 chapters. The writer has received various awards including the Films Today (MUMBAI) award which he received for outstanding contribution and humanitarian work done by him, by helping elders in the vaccination drive of covid19. The author in his free time likes to visit the ailing elders in the assisted living centres and aged homes, he likes to draw, play football, chess and make sumptuous salads. The author has received many forewords for his book including from Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh & (Chairman) Human Rights Commission of UP, Justice Bala Krishna Narayana.
