About the Book
Here is a fresh and mature voice in Hindi poetry that goes much beyond the elation and lamentation of personal love to new fields of experience. The poet comes across as a person of extraordinary sensitivity to what happens around him, in society and the wide world. As an intelligent observer, he unravels the involved irony in situations with striking effect, often without saying much. His concerns cover an impressive range of subjects from Love to Human Evolution and Human Encounters to Metaphysics. Often he catches a situation and uses it to show something bigger that it foreshadows. The book contains 70 poems, each exploring a different situation with telling effect, using impactful language.
About the Author
The poet comes from a background of Science and Engineering, and has an abiding interest in literature and society. Born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, he is now 83 years of age. Hai Kisi Ke Paas Aisa Shabd is his first book of 70 poems. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the prestigious Roorkee University (1960) and holds a Ph.D. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, besides a PG Diploma in Hydrology from the University of Padova, Italy. He has wide experience working as a Field Engineer; in Teaching and Research; Science, Technology, and Development Studies, and Planning and Administration of Science in the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. His poems and essays have been published in prestigious Hindi journals. He is also the author of a forthcoming book of essays, Pravah Ko Disha Do.
