 About the book

It is a multidisciplinary academic book on organ donation for graduate and post-graduate students of philosophy, sociology, psychology, law, medicine, public health, and nursing. The book, written in a simple language, compares India's living and deceased organ donation and transplant activities with that of the globe. Besides, it divulges the complex medical, ethical, legal, social and psychological aspects of living and deceased organ donation and transplantation. This book is helpful for researchers in identifying and selecting topics for further research. Based on the review of literature and PhD research work of the author, this book is one of its kind in India.

About the author

Dr Reeta Dar has done her PhD in Social Medicine and Community Health from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. At present, she is a National Mentor for the Community Health Officers Mentoring project of the Government of India. Earlier, she served the Government of India on a gazetted post for about three decades, developed health education material for national programmes, imparted training, and collaborated with international & national organisations for health education and health promotion.

She published several research papers on organ donation & transplantation in international journals. Authorities of the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) and the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) of the Government of India have commended her work on organ donation.
