About the Book
The book introduces reliability and risk assessment techniques for the successful operation of interconnected power system grids. The focus is on control [C] and reliability [R] factors. C-factors emphasize on key performance indicators [KPIs] as qualitative performance and risk measures of control area fulfilling its own commitments, and helping other areas of interconnection through the interface of turbine governor control [TGC], automatic generation control [AGC] and economic dispatch calculation [EDC]. In contrast, R-factors introduce key reliability indices [KRIs] as quantitative performance and risk measures ensuring power system reliability and security. Also, discussed is a micro-grid operation with solar energy backup towards enhanced grid reliability with security.
About the Author
Kalyan Kumar, Ph.D. is currently President, of National Industrial Corporation. A recipient of B.Sc. (EE). M.Sc. (EE) and Ph.D. (EE) degrees from BIT Sindri, University of Saskatchewan and IIT (ISM) respectively; and having employment with the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR), IIT (ISM) joined as Professor (EE) at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST). Served as HOD(EE). Dean (P&D) and Director; then became Founder Vice Chancellor in 2005 at NERIST (Deemed University under Ministry of Education, Govt. of India). Instrumental to Govt. of India funded projects for the establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) in 2000; Central Institute of Technology at Kokrajhar (Assam) in 2006; Ghani Khan Chowdhury Institute of Engineering and Technology at Malda (West Bengal) In 2010. Appointed as Vice Chancellor, Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University (2011-16); and established K.K. University (first private university) in Bihar as Founder Vice Chancellor (2017-19). Published a good number of research papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings.
